Manual DNA extraction from e.g. fruit and vegetable juices, fruit concentrates and tomato products using silica membrane technology

For DNA extraction of Alicyclobacillus spp., sample preparation of non-filterable and filterable beverages is carried out according to IFU method 12

Principle:

The method is based on spin column technology. After chemical lysis of the cells, the DNA binds to a silica membrane. Cell residues, salts and inhibitors are removed by washing steps. The DNA is released from the silica membrane by heating in TE or H₂O.

The kit is robust against strongly acidic or alkaline, contaminant-rich and difficult to isolate samples. The DNA is of high purity and is available for further molecular biological analyses (e.g. real-time PCR, sequencing…).
