Application:
Manual and automated extraction of genomic and microbial DNA from milk and dairy products (e.g. yoghurt, quark, pudding) using biomagnetic separation technology
Principle:
Cells are chemically lysed, the DNA released is bound to magnetic particles and cleaned of inhibitory components in subsequent washing steps. Protein- and fat-rich products are pretreated enzymatically. The DNA is detached from the magnetic particles by heating in TE or H2O. It is an efficient method that enables a high purity and yield of DNA, which is available for further molecular biological analyses (e.g. real-time PCR, sequencing….).
